Task:
The task for this project entailed designing a logo for my personal brand. Throughout this assignment I was focused on portraying a sophisticated yet fun representation of myself to future recruiters. In addition to the color and black and white version of the logo I was tasked with constructing a business card and letterhead.
Challenges:
The biggest challenge to this project was the design itself. Throughout the process I wanted my logo to remain sophisticated for analytics recruiters yet creative for design strategy recruiters. This was challenging since I did not want to overwhelm the design nor lose my personality in the process. With my final piece I believe I was able to accomplish my goal with a sophisticated typeface and a pop of color. As for many design related projects, the most challenging part is taking a step backward to continue reconsidering different versions of the design until all the goals come together.
Outcome:
In order to overcome these challenges I had to approach the design process from the beginning multiple times! After completing my rough composition and hearing the feedback I realized the logo was too busy and I had lost sight of the sophistication I wanted to present. After starting over, re-sketching new designs and altering my color palette I was able to create a design I am truly happy with, and meets the goals I wanted to express. Through the process of starting over I was able to collect my thoughts and create a design that was more well-rounded, consistent in principles, and captured my personality!
